Connection Is the Real Currency

Why building human bridges might be the ultimate superpower of our time.

Last week, I was on a call with a friend I hadn’t spoken to in a while. She needed help with something, so I introduced her to someone in my network.

A few days later, she messaged me, grateful, excited. That connection had sparked a powerful opportunity.

Then she said something that caught me off guard:

“Connecting people is your superpower.”

It touched me.
Because I’ve never labeled it like that. It’s just something I do.
If I care about you and I know someone who can help, I connect the dots.
No agenda. No calculation. Just instinct and care.

But the more I sit with it, the more I realise, connection is a superpower.

And in today’s world, it might be the most underrated one.

In a world so connected, we’re becoming disconnected

We’re wired for connections. It’s in our biology.

But somewhere between AI, algorithms and inbox zero, we’ve started to forget.

In a sea of automation, real human connection now requires intention.

Empathy. Listening. Presence. Generosity.

These aren’t soft skills anymore.

They’re survival skills.

What once came naturally now has to be practiced on purpose.

The People Around You Shape Your Path

One of my mentors, Pauline Nguyen, often says:
“Who do you need in your orbit to help you get where you want to go faster?”

A client.
A collaborator.
A supplier.
A soulmate.

That’s the magic of it.

Trust Before Transaction

Business schools teach us to pitch, sell, close.

But the best opportunities I’ve seen didn’t begin with a pitch.

They began with a conversation.
A spark of resonance.
A moment of trust.

When you truly see someone, and let yourself be seen, you skip the surface.
You build something real.

And real always wins.

The Gateway to Opportunity

Every pivotal moment in my life started with a person.
Not a funnel. Not a deck.
A person.

One conversation.
One intro.
One simple gesture that unlocked something bigger.

Sometimes it’s not even for you.
It’s about connecting others. Planting seeds you may never see bloom.

But you grow, too.
That’s the quiet magic of paying it forward.

Connection Is a Skill. One Worth Practicing.

Being a “connector” isn’t just a personality type.
It’s a practice.

It’s built in the quiet moments:

  • Listening fully.
  • Remembering who needs what.
  • Following your gut when a name comes to mind.

It’s generosity in motion. And over time, it becomes instinct.

Final Reflections

In a noisy, fast, tech-driven world, connection is quiet, but powerful.
It doesn’t chase attention.
It earns trust.
And it creates impact that echoes far beyond what you can see.

So maybe this is your nudge:

Who can you reach out to today?
That one act of connection might just change everything.

And if it does?

That’s not a coincidence.
That’s your superpower at work.

Ça m’a touchée.

» (traduction de “Who do you need in your orbit to get to where you want to go faster?”)
