The Space to Be Human
A reminder that softness is strength.
I didn’t realise how far I had drifted until I heard the words.
Not from a book.
Not from a podcast.
But from someone who knows how to hold a mirror.
During a group session, my coach said:
“Your self worth cannot depend on how your business is going.”
Something clicked in me.
Because that’s exactly what I had been doing.
Measuring myself by momentum.
Judging myself by productivity.
Equating a harder few months with personal failure.
I wasn’t being kind to myself.
I was tired.
I was overwhelmed.
I was unmotivated in a way I couldn’t think my way out of.
I had slipped into my head, spiralling in thought loops, telling myself one of the most unhelpful sentences a human can think:
“What’s wrong with me?”
I know better than that.
You probably do too.
And yet, this is where we sometimes go when life becomes heavier than our nervous system can carry.
It doesn’t mean we are failing.
It means we are human.
The Quiet Realisation
Other times it arrives through softness.
A pause.
A conversation.
A moment of honesty with someone you trust.
For me, it came from reaching out.
Talking to people who have built things.
People who have lost, rebuilt, succeeded, fallen again, and kept going.
People who reminded me that I am not alone in this.
I never was.
When You Forget You’re Human
We are generous with others.
We tell friends, clients, partners: “It’s okay, you’re allowed to have a moment.”
Yet when it comes to ourselves, we tighten.
We demand perfection.
We expect performance.
We want to be “on” all the time.
Except being human doesn’t work like that.
The body knows before the mind listens.
A low mood.
A foggy morning.
A tired heart.
A wave of emotion you didn’t see coming.
This is information.
A signal that says:
Slow down. You’re carrying too much.
Offer yourself the same compassion you offer everyone else.
The Softening
Choosing kind words over criticism.
Letting a low day be a low day.
Resting without guilt.
Trusting that this too shall pass.
Making space to breathe.
Making space to reset.
Making space to simply be human.
Because pressure contracts the mind.
Compassion expands it.
And only one of those leads to clarity.
Closing Reflection
If you’re in a season where things feel heavier, if you catch yourself asking “What’s wrong with me,” this is your reminder:
Nothing is wrong with you.
You are simply human.
And you deserve the same gentleness you give to others.
Compassion comes first.
Always.
Because when you are kind to yourself, your whole system reorganises.
Your heart softens.
Your mind clears.
Your next step becomes visible again.
And from that place, everything changes.

Je me mesurais à ma propre progression.
Je me jugeais à travers ma productivité.
On dit à nos amis, à nos clients, à nos partenaires :
Me reposer sans culpabilité.
